Poster and Brochure Work
Poster - Hush: Raising Awareness for Child Abuse
I created this piece for a digital imagery class I took at college. We were asked to create a social awareness collage poster inspired by the artist Shepard Fairey, an artist known for his Barack Obama Hope poster. I chose to create a poster raising awareness to child abuse. I chose a number of different images to use for this piece, the background features a newspaper article about abuse in the Catholic church as well as a traditional catholic pattern. I overlayed these images with a jail cell image as well.
I found the subject image before any of the other photographs and knew I had to use it. In Adobe Photoshop I took the image and created a smart filter to posterize it. I then added a red overlay to the boy as it allowed for a starker contrast compared to his natural color.
The final piece was adding the word “hush” above the boy’s head. Before choosing this final design, I played around with a few different words as well as a poster without a word. I asked my classmates and professor which choice they liked best during class critique and they decided on this one.

Poster - Marylin Monroe
This is my second poster created for my digital imagery class. This piece and the work City Lights were part of the same project. My class and I were asked to find news articles and base an image off of what the article was about. Before choosing the article, I wanted to design a piece about Marilyn Monroe. She is my favorite hollywood icon and her beautiful features are so distinctive. I found the painted image of her online (I wish I could say I painted it) then found the reference image the painting was based off of. In Adobe Illustrator I took both images and laid the painting above the photograph. Then I erased half of the painting to let the photograph seep through. Distorting the painting to fit into the image of Marilyn’s face was the most difficult part of this project but when everything aligned I was beaming with joy.
In the background I also added the newspaper article that I found about Ms. Monroe praising her for her work as an actress. The type above the two images adds to this pop art style of the poster.

Poster - City Lights
Digital Imagery was my favorite class as I loved the creative freedom that my classmates and I had. My professor was incredibly encouraging as well and always willing to thoughtfully critique our work to make it better.
This piece was an experimental Photoshop collage. I was learning how to combine two images using a clipping mask. After a few unsuccessful pieces, this last one became my final work for this project. After adding a clipping mask I played around with the opacity of the image and added a gradient sunset color to it as well. This is why there are multiple tones in her face and neck.
This is one of my favorite posters as it screams simplicity. The black background highlights the woman and leaves her in this empty space allowing the viewer to question where she is.

Tri-Fold Brochure - True Grain Bakery
I created this tri-fold brochure for my imaginary bread company in my first graphic design class. Keeping a textured, rustic look, I not only featured the bakery items, but also designed t-shirts and a bakery van using Photoshop to properly apply the logo to fit the object. In order to do so I distorted the images in Adobe Photoshop. The tri-fold template was given by our professor who encouraged us to change and manipulate the template as much as possible. I added an image trace to the text next to the bread image on the bottom left so that the photo did not overlap the text. It adds a fun element as the viewer looks over the brochure.
The whole template was finished in Adobe InDesign with elements from both Photoshop and Illustrator. The final result is a rustic, homey brochure characteristic of the imaginary business I had created.
